Poor level of care and staff get defensive easily. If, like my 95 years-old father, you forget to use the buzzer to fetch staff for things, you tend to get sidelined. When I pointed out they weren't ensuring my father got plenty to drink while having a temperature - noticing even that they neglected to provide straws for his lidded cups so he could not drink from his bed (he is bed bound) on 2 consecutive days! - they tried to cover themselves by saying he drank during his meals in the day room.Some staff are very pleasant, but there are one or two toxic ones with attitudes towards visitors suggesting they shouldn't be working in a people environment. When I noticed clothes missing from my father's wardrobe and went to tell them, one particular nurse called Sam got extremely "shirty" (excuse the pun) and showed me a drawer at the bottom of a medicine cabinet in his room where they were, her demeanour suggesting annoyance for wasting her time and that I was foolish for having not looked in this strange place. I remembered this one as having moaned at me a couple of weeks earlier for not providing clothes and thus making Dad lose dignity by having to wear hospital stuff. It was after her telling me this that I realised the bag with his stuff hadn't been sent from Taunton hospital and fetched them from there. When I politely informed her that they had been left in Taunton and that was why he'd had so few clothes before, she became extremely rude, abrupt and dismissive, denying the very things she had said to me. She then twisted things and went on to say I was accusing staff at Minehead hospital of stealing Dad's things even though all I had done was ask at Reception if they could help find them (and struggling to get anyone to help me find them). Beware of this personality disordered nurse - she seems to get a delight from rubbing up people the wrong way and has no compassion whatsoever for visiting relatives of dying patients.There is definitely an attitude there. I brought in a radio for my bed bound father and put it on the table by his bed to listen to Radio 2 (the station he liked) but each day I came in to visit him it had been moved to another table well out of his reach (sometimes with the station moved to a classical station). When I pointed it out, their excuse for moving the radio was that they needed to move the table when tending to him, as though somehow that meant having to move the radio off it too and not being able to put it back to where it was before!I could go on and on and on about other things, but you get the picture. Be warned!!
So lucky to have this facility in Minehead.Fast and efficient service,especially when it takes a week to get a doctors appointment now.The nurse practitioner is as good as any doctor,and they are always available.Thank you to everyone there-you are all brilliant!
Very clean and well maintained, with great staff care was very impressed and visit was a breeze.
Had to take my grandson Albert here yesterday. The nurse was fantastic with him, she spoke to him, made him feel confident and dressed his wound without fuss. Thank you xx
